Program Outcomes

Following graduation, many of our past biology majors have gone on to pursue lucrative careers as medical professionals, teachers and researchers. Our students often achieve high placement rates into both graduate and professional schools.

Our graduates also have a 100% employment rate in secondary education.

Advanced Human Anatomy Lab

This course offers advanced students the opportunity to explore healthcare-related topics and donor cadaver-based anatomy labs. If you do well in your lower division anatomy course, you can apply for this course with permission from your instructor. Each individual region of the body will be discussed with clinical content related to the majority of healthcare fields including dental, medical, optometry and occupational and physical therapy.

In the laboratory section of the course, you will attend DCOM anatomy labs for the opportunity to handle and identify donor cadaver structures. Past students who have entered graduate school have reported that this course aligned with their graduate courses and that they were very successful due to their experience in this course.

Pre-Med Club

Our pre-med club (biology and chemistry majors) provides students like you with opportunities to further explore the medical field and potential professions. Every month, our club hosts guest speakers from various disciplines of medicine to discuss shadowing, resume building and community outreach. During your time in the pre-med club, you'll even have the opportunity to visit a variety of professional schools within the Appalachia region!
